Steen Nikolaj Hansen
Born November 27th 1966 in Copenhagen, Denmark and grew up in Hjortespring (Herlev), a Copenhagen suburb. Son of a trombone/baritonhornplayer in the Royal Guards (a fulltime professional concert band). Started playing the trumpet at the age of 6, but quickly changed to baritonhorn, to join the Tivoli Guards boys band in the fall of 1975. In the marching band from 1977-82.
1984 Started playing professional gigs e.g. sub'ing with Funk big band "Blast"
1985 Student from Sankt Annæ Gymnasium (Copenhagen Choirschool)
1986 Joined the Danish Radio Big Band
1988 Joined the Tivoli Big Band
1996 Played leadtrombone in the EBU big band
1995 CD "Timeless Inc." w/Henrik Bolberg
1997 CD "Under the Surface" w/own quartet
2009 CD "Bass & Bones" Duo w/Bassplayer Mads Vinding
Performed as soloist at the ITF 2003 (International Trombone Festival) i Helsinki, and again at the ITF 2009 in Aarhus, Denmark
